Why planning for your senior years is a must
September 25th 2008 23:08
The upside of careful and realistic planning is that it puts you in the “driver's seat” so to speak. It allows you take control of your future rather than being a backseat passenger simply coasting along for the ride and seeing what happens. Such an approach is fraught with disappointment and heartache. Not only do we need to plan for our recreational and entertainment activities but more importantly we need to plan for how we handle our lifestyle when we are no longer healthy and active as we are today.
Without positive planning we limit our options and curb the quality of fulfilled and enriched living.
It therefore makes sense that the more aware we are of what we perceive as our future needs and aspirations the more likely we are to lead an independent and proactive life where we can minimise the negative side effects of the inevitable set backs that come to us all.
In order to adequately prepare for your senior years it is imperative that the following factors are seriously considered:
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle
Financial security
Living arrangements
Safety concerns
Personal Relationships
Legal issues
End of Life decisions
Future posts will examine each of the above factors in more detail. Stay tuned!
